How to be creative 101
Updated: Apr 24
If you expected a long blog telling you all the ways you can perfect your painting technique I can tell you now you are in the wrong place...
*waits for people to leave**
Great, thanks for staying. I created this post because over lockdown and over the past few months really I have only finally suddenly embraced my own creative style, and it's had such a huge impact on how I see my art work that I thought I had to share it with you...
And to be honest there's only one key piece of advice you need to follow...
Be unapoligetically you, and make that your style.
Okay, so you might be wondering what I mean by that... What I mean is, a lot of artists spend years perfecting their style, but the hard part (the past they don't tell you) is finding your own personal style first take A WHILE. The even harder part of which took me nearly 10 years to figure; your style might not be the style you want to be good at, that's just the way it is.
Just try, try and try again, and eventually you'll find what style you do best. Just embrace trying, failing, and creating new things, and you will get there.
You can't succeed if you never start.
A WORD OF WARNING THOUGH : As an artist myself I can officially say that NO ARTIST likes every single piece of their artwork, and even when you do find your own style, it really doesn't mean that it won't change over time, because we all change. (I take *** side - watch Bridesmaids if you don't get that reference, just do it.) And just allow it to happen.
Not all of us are talented in styles such as abstract or fine art, putting yourself in a category will only hold you back in the long run.
It took me 19 years to find my style. You still have time to find yours.
